I used to be a blogger...a pretty dedicated, no holds barred teller of the tales of my life. A life, that looking back on it now, I can't believe was actually mine, but made good content, which is what it's ultimately about anyway. Say Goodbye to Romance, that was the name of my blog. I loved it. My lovely little blogging world consisted of a hundred or so readers, some fellow bloggers whose posts I looked forward to daily, and some stranger friends who only lived as screen names like magnoliamommy and goodguacamole. Blogging was routine and even soothing.
One day my entire world was turned on it's head. You may know it as Hurricane Katrina. I blogged through it, about it, remotely, from public libraries across the state all the way to Texas. Once things returned to normal I noticed something was different, my 50 to 100 daily hits had become thousands. What?! How?! Why?! A little research answered my questions. A little online newspaper found my Katrina blog posts, linked them, and the people came, not stranger friends but strangers.
I stopped writing as freely and then I just stopped writing. I had the foresight to print the thousands of posts I made over the years and then I did what was once unthinkable to me, I deleted my blog.
I think I'm back now but in a completely different way. I don't know if I can capture the magic again but I'm going to try. Let's do this.
